Our Grooming Policies

Last updated: May 19, 2025

We want to make sure that every dog’s visit to The Grooming Edge is safe, comfortable, and enjoyable. To help us deliver the best service, please review our salon guidelines:

1. On a Lead, Please
For your dog’s safety and the safety of others, we ask that all dogs are kept on a lead when arriving at the salon. If your dog needs to go to the bathroom before their appointment, please ensure they’re taken care of outside. We also kindly ask that any messes on our lawn are cleaned up—if you need a bag, just let us know.

2. Matting & Knots
Mats and knots don’t simply wash out, and we do not offer de-matting services, as the process can be uncomfortable and painful for your dog. If your dog is matted, we’ll need to perform a full clip to restore a clean and healthy coat. Please note that a “matting fee” may apply.
(Please be aware that a full clip off session can significantly alter a dog’s appearance.)

3. Flea Policy
If your dog has fleas, they will receive a mandatory flea treatment to keep our salon flea-free. There will be an additional flea charge for this service.

4. Muzzles (If Necessary)
Your dog’s comfort and safety are our priority. In rare cases, we may use a muzzle for brief periods to ensure everyone stays safe. We will never use a muzzle unless absolutely necessary.

5. Grooming Safety
Your dog’s well-being is always our top priority. If at any point we feel it is unsafe to continue grooming, we reserve the right to stop the session. You will only be charged for the grooming that has already been completed.

6. Sedation Policy
We do not use sedation for grooming. We believe any sedation should be administered by a vet to ensure your dog’s safety.

7. CCTV Surveillance
For added peace of mind, our salon is under 24-hour CCTV surveillance to ensure the safety and security of both our team and the dogs we care for.

8. Grooming Time & Additional Charges
Our grooming services are priced with up to 3 hours of care for small dogs and 4 hours for larger dogs. If your dog’s grooming requires additional time, there will be an extra charge per hour.

9. Cancellations & No-Shows
We kindly ask for 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the appointment will incur a fee per dog, payable before the next appointment. No-shows or last-minute cancellations will also be charged a fee.

10. Price Adjustments
Our prices are based on your dog’s coat condition, behaviour, and specific needs. If there’s a long gap between grooms, additional charges may apply.

11. Recommended Grooming Frequency
For optimal coat and skin health, we recommend grooming every 4–6 weeks.

12. Pregnancy & Litter Policy
For the safety and health of your dog, we do not accept pregnant dogs past 6 weeks of gestation. Additionally, if your dog has a litter at home, we ask that they wait until their puppies have been vaccinated or found new homes before visiting the salon.

13. Respectful Environment
We pride ourselves on creating a friendly and respectful atmosphere. Any rude behaviour toward our team or other clients will not be tolerated.

14. Your Dog’s Care
At The Grooming Edge, your dog’s well-being is our top priority. We are dedicated to making each visit a comfortable, relaxing, and positive experience for every dog we groom.
